Here are the first 10 issues of the Rutgers Institute of Jazz publications of the Journal of Jazz Studies from 1973-1979. It is a compilation of scholarly investigations into the origins and make up of Jazz as an art form published by the Rutgers Institute.

There is a ton of great information and insight in these volumes, published sporadically from 1973 - 1979. This group includes the first 10 issues, Vol 1 No. 1 & 2, Vol 2 No. 1 & 2, Vol 3 No. 1 & 2, Vol 4 No. 1 & 2, and Vol 5 No. 1 & 2. It looks like they were trying to publish these twice yearly, but towards the end of the run it became more sporadic. A brief search online shows that Vol 7 was published in 2011, then fairly regularly after that, up to the current Volume 16, but these are the earliest volumes. They were available by subscription. Don't know how many of these still exist today, not many, as far as I can tell.
