I found out that all these signatures are members of Spike Jones band about 1949. Frankie Little was a dwarf who did comedy routines. Gloria Gardner was one of two "Slickerettes" who introduced the band and sang and danced. Doodles Weaver was Professor Feetlebaum, and Jr. Martin was actually Lock Martin, Jr, a 7'7" giant who also did comedy routines. He also just happened to be the most important actor in the 1951 sci-fi thriller THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. He was the guy in the GORT costume! WOW!! THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL is my all-time favorite sci-fi movie. It was the first with a story that didn't seem like it was adapted from a shoot-em-up western movie script. That is amazing, after over 60 years, I finally have Gort's autograph! ![]() This is a photo of Spike Jones with Frankie Little and Lock Martin, Jr (aka Jr Martin) ![]() This is a photo of Spike Jones with 4 Slickerettes. Gloria Gardner is on the left and her sister Gladis is on the right. This is a clipping from a 1949 newspaper. |
