Champion was produced as a budget label, originally by Gennett (1925-1934) then by Decca (1935-1937). These recordings were made by Gennett and originally issued in 1930 as Champion 16215. Here they were reissued by Decca about 1935 as Champion 50042 from the same 1930 Gennett masters. These budget records were almost always played to death, most exhibiting heavy wear with numerous scuffs, scratches, and scrapes. This rare record has had a much better life and today it looks and plays almost like new. You can watch and listen to this record play on YouTube: WHAT'S THAT I SMELL FIX IT |
